Hi,
I've read through this IEEE Sensor Classification Scheme paper referenced in the last call. I do like it, although I can think of some missing ingredients. I suppose that is what 'Other' is for. In any case, here's some of my comments.
Measurand Table
- Where would flux go, since it might be a hybrid quantity? Nutrient fluxes would be both chemical and mechanical.
- Do error or status values count as measurands? E.g., camera lights being on or off, radiometers on dark or light cycles, etc.
Technological Aspects
- I think Unit of Measure needs to be mentioned.
Sensor Conversion Phenomena
- What about formulaic? E.g., from some very raw measure like counts converted into db (sonar).
In general, how do 'derived' measurands get represented. I'm thinking of properties like salinity and density when derived from other measurands like conductivity, temperature and pressure.
Anyways, just thoughts!
Reyna

Good discussion today. I scratched out some notes here
(at the bottom of the pad, in orange),
picking up the existing thread from last week -
